Growing Flat Track in Australia

Growing Flat Track in Australia

Hello boys and girls.

KLAVR is on a mission to change the face of flat track racing in Australia. Well, most of you probably already know that.

We started and are continuing to provide a community base for not only Australia but the flat track family around the world with the KLAVR FLAT TRACK POD which you can find on Spotify and YouTube. I hope you are tuning in and flogging that like button and sharing it around with other flat track lovers. This was just one of the first steps of my plan to grow the sport. With interviews with racers and industry leaders we have put together some fantastic episodes with flat track lover’s from around the globe and we will continue to do so into the future.

Also, by being one of the only businesses in Australia to only specialise in Flat track products which is considered a risky move buy most, we have sold plenty of wheel sets, rims, spoke sets, seat boards , fork protection, tyres and hard facing to keep riders turning up to the track and do what they love to do most. While supporting events, riders and helping to introduce racers to the magic of racing on a set of 19” wheels. I am supper proud of what we have achieved thus far as so many people said 19” won’t happen in Australia.

We are moving forward, and I really appreciate everybody that has helped this movement happen in Australia. I really mean that!! From Dave Madoc the creator of the AFTN (Aussie Flat Track Nationals) to the clubs that host 19” classes, you the riders and our international riders & of course KLAVR’s competition that are also helping get riders on track with their products.

This is what being a community is all about and I’m happy to say we have finally got a 19” Flat Track community in Australia.

What’s next you may ask?

Well as some of you know I have taken on a roll as National discipline manager with RSA (Rider Sport Australia). There are a couple reasons to why I took this roll on. One, I don’t like that Australia only has the one controlling body, If there is no competition then who is there to keep them honest, also having another controlling body can be an advantage for our racing community as it creates choice and another point of view on how racing and motorcycle activities can be conducted within our country. And I like the idea of the riders having more of a voice while keeping rules and regulations as simple and streamlined as possible. You can check out the RSA website for yourself to see what they are all about. While you are there why not join the RSA?

Secondly, I wanted to be able to have more of an impact on creating opportunity for our sport to grow in Australia weather it be introducing car tracks or just having more tracks operating in all states so that the sport is more accessible. Also creating more Flat Track only events that run under a set of Flat Track rules and regulations to separate our sport from Australian Dirt Track.

This move is not to destroy Aussie dirt track but to be able to grow that discipline also as it’s own unique identity. I have taken on the roll not only for Flat Track but also Dirt Track and Grass Track.

Please don’t get confused about KLAVR and its owner (me Darcy Klaver) and the RSA. KLAVR is a brand for flat track racing, and we do not discriminate between controlling bodies and are here to serve the flat track family. Just because I am working for the RSA dose not mean KLAVR is linked to the RSA. KLAVR will fully support any event weather it’s with MA (motorcycling Australia) or the RSA if we think it will benefit Riders and the community in any country. KLAVR is here for the sport not the politics.

I am currently moving slowly but please be patient with me as it may not be fast, but we will get there.

I am currently setting things up for the above-mentioned disciplines and will hopefully be launching the VFT (Victorian Flat Track) within 2025. I am currently working with a couple venues to get a three to six rnd flat track serries running under RSA and promoted by KLAVR up and going. I plan to host these under lights on Saturday nights and create a fantastic atmosphere for spectators and riders alike.

If you are interested in becoming part of the VTF team, please feel free to email me at info@klavrflattrack.com
